These earrings are cast in sterling silver precious metal clay from an antique bronze Kuchi tribal jewelry mold from my small collection. They feature the center portion of a larger design that you can see in other pieces I have in my shop. I love using these molds and thinking about what I can do with them that incorporates the feeling of the original jewelry made from them while interpreting the design in my own style.
After firing the clay becomes solid sterling silver and I then burnish the earrings for several hours, oxidize with an iridescent patina and buff them them to bring out the detail, burnish again and finally hand polish them giving the finished earrings a mellow shine.
The earrings measure 8mm (5/16") round.
