I made these earrings in my home studio from sterling silver precious metal clay cast from a mold of an antique button. They feature the center portion of a larger design. I love how it looks both modern and vintage; resembling to me a tiny Southwestern concho and like a highly detailed Victorian era bauble. While the earrings are small the "Modern Vintage" style and face flattering oval shape will make them an instant keepsake and a favorite for every day wear.
After firing the clay becomes solid sterling silver and I then burnish the earrings for several hours, oxidize with an iridescent patina and buff them them to bring out the detail, burnish again and finally hand polish them giving the finished earrings a mellow shine.
The earrings measure 10mm (just over 3/8") high by 8 1/2mm (just under 3/8") wide.
