Sakura Cherry Blossom Necklace In Blue

$ 116.00

It's springtime and that means cherry blossom season here in the Washington, DC area. Our area trees are budding and soon we will be bursting with blooms! To honor this delicate harbinger of spring I have designed my Sakura collection. The Sakura (the Japanese name for cherry blossom) is a treasured symbol for renewal and optimism, the very meaning of spring: it is a reminder that there is always hope. My wish for any who wear my jewelry is that it becomes an anchor — a talisman — to remind one of what is important to them, with this collection I hope that it will be a talisman of optimism.

I created this necklace by first making the copper Sakura component that may be worn either side, set with a light blue cubic zirconia*, and then using oxidized sterling silver wire to wrap faceted blue quartz, faceted titanium pyrite, and faceted aquamarine and finishing with oxidized sterling silver chain and extender and lobster clasp so that you may adjust the length with any neckline.

Aquamarine is the birthstone for March and is associated with the throat chakra — the center of communication.

*Cubic Zirconia, or  "CZ", is a man made stone — I haven't successfully fired natural stones with copper as the firing temperature is too high but I occasionally like to offer a sparkly accent to my copper and only then will I use CZ's. In my silver pieces I always use natural stones.

The necklace measures a total of 17.5 inches (45.5 cm) long not including the .5 inch (10mm) drop with a 2.5 inch (7.5 cm)  extender but really the necklace could be clasped anywhere along the chain if you wanted to wear it as a choker. The flower measures about 3/4 of an inch (2 cm) around
