Silver Deco Lotus Earrings
Ever since I was a little girl I was fascinated with Egyptian iconography. When I was in 5th grade our class had a section about Egypt and I was instantly drawn to the Eye of Horus and would draw it everywhere in all of my artwork. I've retained that fascination with imagery of ancient Egypt and have developed a love of Egyptian Revival artwork. I particularly love the symbol of the lotus, growing in the muck the lotus symbolizes blooming despite our surroundings.
I cast these earrings in recycled fine silver from a mold I made of an Art Deco period Egyptian Revival style button. It shows an Egyptian stylized lotus against a background of the sun's rays of light. I applied an antique finish to the silver to bring out the design of the metal and suspended them from sterling silver earwires. These earrings are feather-light and easy to wear! They are also available in a bright finish for a more modern look.
