From my Tapestry series, this recycled fine silver and multigem double sided slide pendant necklace is inspired by the beautiful Japanese textiles that I saw everyday when working fora store that imported vintage Japanese kimono and other textiles. I particularly loved the rustic quilts made by the people in the rural countryside of Japan and the pattern in the metal reminds me of the delicate embroidery from these quilts. The symmetry of the pattern has a kind of geometric mandala type feeling to me - very zen. I love the tactile feel of the pattern under my fingers.
The pendant is reversible, the pattern on both sides is the same Quilt Square design with one side set with a beautiful genuine princess cut silvery blue zircon and the other side set with a deep authentic emerald green princess cut tsavorite green garnet. I have applied a subtly iridescent patina to bring out the pattern in the silver. The pendant slides around on a 16 inch (40.6 cm) long hand antiqued sterling silver diamond cut ball chain which may be upgraded to an 18 inch (45.7 cm) or 20 inch (50.8 cm). If a longer chain is needed it may be specially ordered.
The pendant measures just under 3/4 inches (19 mm) high by 11/16 inches (17 mm) wide. The blue zircon measures just over 1/8 inches (3 mm) square, the tsavorite garnet measures 3/16 inches (about 4.5 mm) square.
