The fascinating spiral, repeated in nature everywhere from tiny shells to ocean whirlpools to galaxies. I love ruminating on the connection of all things from the tiny to the astronomical and the symbolism of the spiral. What does it mean to you?
I made these earrings in my home studio from sterling silver precious metal clay. After firing the clay becomes solid sterling silver and I then burnish the earrings for several hours, oxidize with a subtle iridescent patina and buff them them to bring out the detail, burnish again and finally hand polish them giving the finished earrings a mellow shine.
The earrings measure 10mm (just over 3/8") round.
