I cast these beautifully detailed dainty little earrings in sterling silver precious metal clay from a mold I made of an Antique Victorian era button from my vast collection. It has given me so much joy to curate my collection over the last two decades, haunting many antique shops and flea markets in places far flung and near me. I often refer to the design of this earring as the "Victorian Scroll Flower" as it depicts a stylized blossom over a graceful flourish.
Once I've fired the dry clay in my kiln it is transformed into pure sterling silver and it undergoes a finishing process that requires several steps: first burnishing, oxidizing, buffing, second burnishing, and finally hand polishing. I've found that this process beautifully enhances the detail of the high and low relief areas of the Victorian design.
The earrings measure approximately 3/4 inches long and the silver disc measures 3/8 inches round, the earwires are sterling silver (.925).
All of my pieces are made individually by me only and are either one of a kind or "small batch" pieces that I might make a few times a year and, due to my process, no two are alike.
