Opal Spider Necklace – Fine Silver Spiderweb Pendant

A tiny spider rests at the center of her intricate web, carrying a luminous Ethiopian opal in her abdomen. Handcrafted in fine silver, this enchanting pendant captures the quiet mystery of the natural world, where even the smallest creatures create extraordinary things.

Bring a little everyday magic into your jewelry collection. Choose your preferred chain option and make this tiny talisman your own.

An Antique Inspiration, Reimagined in Silver

This distinctive spider necklace began with an antique-style glass intaglio cabochon. By pressing the underside of the glass directly into precious metal clay, I captured the delicate relief of the spider and her web in fine silver.

The pendant was carefully fired, oxidized, polished, and tumbled to bring out its intricate details. A natural Ethiopian opal, set in a delicate serrated bezel, glimmers at the center of the spider's abdomen, flashing with shifting colors as it catches the light.

The Symbolism of the Spider

Across many traditions, spiders have been associated with creativity, patience, and the weaving of one's own destiny.

The spider builds her world one silken thread at a time, a lovely reminder that the things we create, and the lives we shape, emerge through countless small acts of intention.

This pendant is a talisman for makers, dreamers, and those who recognize the extraordinary artistry of the natural world.

Artist's Note

There is something wonderfully paradoxical about a spiderweb: a structure of extraordinary delicacy, built with astonishing precision and strength. I've always been fascinated by the way spiders create these intricate little worlds, often in places where no one thinks to look.

What drew me to this particular intaglio was the almost architectural geometry of the web, with its Art Deco character and beautifully stylized spider. Translating that design into silver, then setting a tiny Ethiopian opal into the spider's abdomen, felt like giving this little creature a jewel of her own.

I particularly love the contrast between the darkened silver and the opal's shifting colors. It gives the pendant the feeling of a small, mysterious relic, something discovered rather than newly made.

Handmade in Small Batches

Each pendant is individually handcrafted in my Maryland studio. Subtle variations in the silver's finish and the natural play of color in each Ethiopian opal make every piece uniquely its own.

Because my jewelry is made in small batches, availability may be limited.

A Little Everyday Magic

Whether you're drawn to spider symbolism, woodland-inspired jewelry, or the mysterious glow of Ethiopian opals, this fine silver spider necklace offers a distinctive way to carry a little of the natural world's magic with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the opal genuine?

Yes. Each pendant features a natural Ethiopian opal. Because opals are natural gemstones, their colors and patterns vary from stone to stone.

Does the necklace include a chain?

You may purchase the pendant alone or select one of my sterling silver chain options. Please refer to the chain photograph and drop-down menu for available styles.

Will my pendant look exactly like the photographs?

Each pendant is individually handcrafted, so slight differences in finishing and gemstone color are part of its unique character.

How should I care for my necklace?

Fine silver can be gently cleaned with a soft jewelry polishing cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, prolonged exposure to water, and ultrasonic cleaners, particularly because of the delicate opal.
