I made these dainty stud earrings, featuring a beautifully detailed tiny thistle flower, with sterling silver metal clay that once fired is transformed into solid sterling silver. After firing the sterling silver posts are soldered onto the backs and the silver is burnished for several hours then oxidized, buffed to bring out detail, burnished again and then hand polished.
The Scottish thistle is a noble flower, symbolizing devotion, bravery, determination, and strength. It represents overcoming adversity and has been renowned in Scotland as the national emblem and the symbol of Scotland's ancient order of chivalry known as "The Order of the Thistle". In magical practice thistles have the powers of protection, purification, hex-breaking, and healing.
With such symbolism, these tiny, beautifully detailed earrings area perfect gift for a loved one or a delightful gift for yourself!
The earrings measure approximately 1/4" and come with sterling silver pushbacks.
