Handcrafted in Fine Silver, One Piece at a Time
I've been creating variations of this willow design for nearly two decades, returning to it again and again as one returns to a favorite path through the woods.
Each pendant begins as sheets of fine silver metal clay impressed with individually chosen textures. The front and back are formed separately, then carefully joined by hand while the clay is still soft, creating a hollow slide pendant with hidden depth and dimension.
The willow tree emerges on the front, its graceful branches bowing overhead in a gesture of welcome and protection. On the reverse, a richly textured botanical pattern creates a hidden garden known only to the wearer.
After kiln firing, the silver becomes solid fine silver (.999), which is then oxidized and hand-polished to reveal every detail.
Because each piece is individually handcrafted, no two will ever be exactly alike.
The Meaning of the Willow Tree
The willow has long been associated with intuition, healing, resilience, and emotional wisdom. Yet what draws me to the willow is something quieter.
To me, the willow is a safe and sacred space.
She bows over me to shelter and shade me. She witnesses both sorrow and joy without judgment. She asks me to put down whatever mask I'm wearing and simply be.
The willow reminds me of childhood summers before self-consciousness took hold - moments spent barefoot in the grass, completely present, aware only of the warmth of the sun, the scent of the air, and the simple joy of being alive.
This necklace is a reminder that such places still exist.
Sometimes they are found beneath the branches of a tree.

A Note from the Artist
The willow tree has always felt like an old friend.
I can lean on her. She makes me feel safe and relaxed. She bows over me to shelter me and shade me, and she weeps with me in both sorrow and joy.
She evokes sweet summer moments from childhood when I was free of self-consciousness and aware of myself only in the simplest way - the feeling of grass beneath my feet, the movement of the breeze, the quiet comfort of belonging exactly where I was.
Years later, I realized many of the qualities I associated with the willow were qualities I also loved in my grandmother: grace, quiet strength, deep intelligence, and a kind of steadfast love that didn't need to announce itself.
This piece carries all of those things for me.
My hope is that it becomes a small place of refuge for you as well.

This is not a design I produce continuously.
I return to it in small batches, often years apart, whenever the willow calls me back. Each pendant is individually handcrafted, and availability is extremely limited.
Once sold out, it may be some time before I create another collection.
About the Artist
For more than three decades, I have created jewelry inspired by symbolism, nature, folklore, and the quiet magic hidden within everyday life.
Working from my home studio in Silver Spring, Maryland, just outside Washington, DC, I create each piece by hand using fine silver, sterling silver, gemstones, and traditional metalsmithing techniques. My work is deeply influenced by the natural world and by the stories, memories, and emotions that objects can carry.
Rather than creating jewelry simply as adornment, I create pieces that serve as personal talismans - small reminders of strength, beauty, wonder, belonging, and connection.
